Claude wrote the following article on Percy DeWolfe, who for over thirty years delivered the mail from Eagle, Alaska to Dawson City, Yukon (see the article 100,000 miles with mail team in the Yukon). Today, a dogsled race between the two towns is named after DeWolfe and commemorates his extraordinary feat. Percy crossed over the Chilkoot Pass in 1898, and is without a doubt one of the Yukon’s original “colourful 5%.”
