Claude and Mary were both wildlife enthusiasts, and it was inevitable that he would turn his camera on some of his furred and feathered northern neighbours. Though he appears to have been more fascinated by the fleeting human dramas, he was also an avid nature photographer. Imagine the impact of ‘live’ movie film footage of a grizzly bear back in the era before television made such shots commonplace. However, he usually turned his still camera on smaller, safer subjects and was particularly fond of photographing birds.
